Sometimes it is the smallest comment or fear that derails you. You’re chugging along, making time, feeling good and then something just going “clank” and suddenly, the train lurches to a stop.

A few months ago I found this happening to me. It’s happened before, no doubt it will happen again with other projects, but suddenly the “Change Your Life” express train came to an unexpected stop. It sat there, nearly at the top of the mountain (40,000 words written) and remained unmoving for four long months.

There were good excuses for this, I’m sure of it, I just can’t think of any in particular other than the lame, “Well, I got busy, see, and I just…stopped.”

Life happens.

Doubt happens.

Fear happens.

Until one day something or someone jogs you back into action. For me, it was my husband. This morning, in fact. He looked over at me and said, “Finish it. It’s good, it’s great, in fact. Now finish what you started.”

Sometimes it is as simple as that.

Actually, truth be told, it’s always been as simple as that. And for me, to hear the words and see his honesty and sincerity in those words, all the excuses and fears fell away. And I knew it was time to finish what I had started.

Take a moment, and think of yours. What have you left unfinished? What exciting and wonderful project did you undertake that consumed you, drew you in, made your heartbeat race or the tears flow or the words pour out of you?

Something happened. Maybe time got away from you. Life interfered. Someone said something, finances got tight, doubt got in the way. Isn’t it time you returned?

Do it today. I’ll be standing right by your side. Chugging up the mountain. Making time. Weaving words and building a little piece of hope for you to find along the way. We’ll do it together, you and I.
